Facelift Surgery: Why Choose Dr. Rappaport
As you age, facial tissues lose volume, skin loses elasticity, and wrinkles begin to form. Gravity stretches and loosens the supporting ligaments of the face, causing the formation of jowls and drooping around the eyes. The neck starts to sag and develops noticeable banding.
While these skin changes are a natural part of growing older, many wish to postpone or improve them with surgical intervention. At Houston Center for Plastic Surgery, we understand, which is why we offer facelift surgery to our Houston patients. A facelift can stem the tide of time by smoothing deep folds, removing excess skin, and tightening facial tissues to restore a more youthful appearance.
This is a delicate, complex procedure that requires extensive knowledge of facial anatomy and specific surgical techniques, as well as a discerning eye for aesthetics. As such, it is essential to choose your physician carefully. Norman H. Rappaport, MD, FACS, is a certified cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon who is known for his personalized care and natural-looking results. In 1985, Dr. Rappaport established the Houston Center for Plastic Surgery, a facility that provides a full scope of both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, in addition to a range of complementary nonsurgical services.

Extensive Training
When choosing a surgeon, particularly for an area as visible and sensitive as the face, qualifications matter. Dr. Rappaport earned his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, completed general surgery training at Abington Memorial Hospital, and completed his plastic surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
His background includes advanced training in craniofacial surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto, and a hand surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He has also performed cleft lip and palate surgery as a volunteer surgeon on several overseas missions.
Prior to becoming a cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon, Dr. Rappaport earned a doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. It was this experience that initially sparked his interest in plastic surgery.
Board Certification
Dr. Rappaport is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The ABPS is one of only 24 medical specialty boards that comprise the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare by setting professional standards for lifelong certification. ABMS is the largest physician-led specialty certification organization in the United States.
Choosing a plastic surgeon who is board-certified ensures that your physician is specifically trained in plastic surgery, including facelift techniques, and that your procedure will be performed according to strict safety requirements in an accredited facility.
Over the span of his career, Dr. Rappaport has also earned certifications from the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners, National Board of Dental Examiners, National Board of Medical Examiner, and American Board of Quality Assurance And Utilization Review Physicians.

Comprehensive Treatment Options
Dr. Rappaport offers two types of facelifts at the Houston Center for Plastic Surgery:
- Mid-Facelift: A mid-facelift addresses the cheeks and the outer corners of the nose and mouth to reduce sagging and soften the transition from the lower eyelid to the cheekbone. This procedure can be performed by itself or in combination with a standard facelift.
- Standard Facelift: The standard lift rejuvenates the lower two-thirds of the face to more fully address moderate to advanced aging. The neck may also be included in this procedure, extending the benefits from the jawline to the Adam’s apple.
Patients who wish to maximize their facelift results may want to explore additional nonsurgical treatments at the Houston Center for Plastic Surgery. Through the SUBTLchanges Skin Rejuvenation Center, Dr. Rappaport offers BOTOX® Cosmetic and injectable facial fillers such as JUVÉDERM® and Radiesse, as well as medical facials, microdermabrasion, and clinical skin care. These treatments provide a smooth and radiant complexion that further extends and enhances the effects of your facelift.
