“When I turned 50, I decided it was my turn to do what I've been longing to do,” says Deborah, age 52.

“I've always been an avid exerciser,” she says, “but during my 40s, I was losing all the volume in my breasts. My body felt young, but I didn't want to be seen in a bathing suit.

“I was a scant 34B,” she recalls. “I'd thought about getting breast implants for a long time, but once I made up my mind to do it, that was it. My gynecologist recommended Dr. Rappaport, I came in for a consultation and scheduled my surgery that very day.”

During Deborah's personal consultation with Dr. Rappaport, they discussed her goals for breast enhancement. “In particular, she wanted more fullness in the upper part of the breast to mask some of the boniness in her upper chest,” Dr. Rappaport recalls.

“Dr. Rappaport recommended silicone gel implants, and I'm very glad I chose them,” says Deborah. “They have a much more natural feeling than saline implants. And Dr. Rappaport did the breast enhancement in proportion to my body.”

“We selected an implant size based on her breast width,” Dr. Rappaport explains. “Although Deborah had a fair amount of natural breast tissue, we felt it would be better to place the implants under the chest muscle to give a smoother contour. We did an incision around the areola—the darker skin surrounding the nipple. And she looks fabulous!”

Deborah had her surgery on a Wednesday, was back at work the following Monday—and is very happy with her results. “I'm in awe of the change in my breasts!” she says. “Today, a year later, you can't see any scars.

“I feel young, and now I like what I see in the mirror,” says Deborah. “I'm wearing clothes I never thought I would wear—more form-fitting and low-cut styles—and I have so much more confidence when I'm out in public.”

“I love being able to throw away all those water-bra swimsuits—the ones where, when you get out of the water, you have to wring them out since they're like a sponge,” Deborah laughs.

“My husband was very supportive about my having breast enhancement,” she adds. “He told me, ‘If you want it, go ahead.’ Our kids are grown, and I'm not going to consider everyone else first anymore.

“I wish I'd had breast augmentation years ago, but the timing now is right for me emotionally,” Deborah explains. “Today I'm ready to give myself that gift; 10 years ago, I would have been riddled with guilt if I'd done it. I wasn't emotionally on par with my desire to
look better.

“Having breast augmentation is like buying makeup,” she adds. “Do it to enhance what you have, not to try to change who you are. Do it for you, not for anyone else. Now I wake up every day and love looking in the mirror!”
