Hyaluronic acid
A naturally occurring sugar found in human skin, cartilage, joints and the eye. In skin tissue, hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagen and elastin fibers. Its role is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water and to act as a cushioning agent.
Hylaform & Hylaform Plus
This product is sterile, clear, colorless dermal filler made of chemically modified hyaluronic acid derived from rooster combs. While no allergy test is required, tell Dr. Rappaport if you are allergic to certain types of water fowl.
Hylaform is soft filler that plumps up the skin's structure and restores its youthful, smooth appearance. It is indicated for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds or lines that run from the nose to the corner of the mouth.
The results last about six months.
JUVÉDERM®
The latest hyaluronic acid to receive FDA approval. This is a non-animal hyaluronic acid. There are three formulations that may be used for fine lines to deeper creases.

Collagen
Collagen is a protein that provides your skin with structural support. The first collegen was derived frome bovine (cow) sources and became available almost 20 years ago. New offerings from human collagen are making a come back.
Cosmoderm & CosmoPlast are derived from human collagen and do not require allergy testing. These products are used to fill wrinkles, moderate creases, depressed scars and for plumping lips. There is no downtime and minimal discomfort. Cosmoderm & CosmoPlast have been used in combination with hylaform gel and other hyaluronic acids to smooth away unwanted lines and wrinkles. In combination, they can be used on smile lines, lip border, vertical lip lines, acne scars, frown lines and crow's feet. The results last from two to three months.
